Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Monarch College is about how we as an organisation align our activities with our stakeholders’ expectations in relation to our economic, social and environmental impacts.

Our stakeholders include the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Jobcentre Plus, Education & Skills Funding Agency as well as our employees, subcontractors, Prime Contractors and the local communities we interact with on a regular basis. Our CSR policy sets out our overall aims, objectives and targets in relation to five key strands outlined below:

  • Business Ethics
  • Environmental Impact
  • Sustainable Procurement
  • People
  • Community Development

Our targets are aligned with European Social Fund (ESF) Sustainable Development Objectives and to the Greening Government Commitments (April 2011) stated below:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% from a 2009/10 baseline from the whole estate and business-related travel
  • Reduce the amount of waste generated by 25% from a 2009/10 baseline
  • Reduce water consumption from a 2009/10 baseline and report on use against best practice benchmarks
  • Ensure our organisation buys sustainable and efficient products and engages with its suppliers to understand and reduce the impacts of its supply chain

We have achieved the highest grade of Strong commitment to managing and monitoring of the cross-cutting themes of Equality of Opportunity and Sustainable Development.
